My son is 10 years old and has been on Adderall XR for 2 years. About 6 months ago he started pulling his eyelashes out, they are all gone. He can't keep his hands away from his eyes. I am happy to have found the 2 others who have written about their hair pulling experiences. We are now in the process of finding another alternative medication or taking him off completely. I gave him a lower dose yesterday and I did not give him his medicine today and immediately he is better. What a relief for myself and most of all for him to know that he does not have to go through this anymore.

I am not sure if you saw my write up but my daughter at the time was 11 years old and had been on Addrall XR 20 mg for 3 years when she began to pull her hair out of her head. After almost 1 year of this and then the falling grades and the desocialization we finally took her off the Adderall and within 24 hours she came up to me and told me that her hand was not going to her head anymore. My heart sank, I couldn't believe that the drug I was giving her now for 4 years had caused so much heartache to my daughter and our family. Today, one year later is hair is not about seven inches long and she is much more confident and happy. Alot of the kids (girls especially) made fun of her and she is still struggling on the social end but eventually I hope these kids will come around. We took her to a homeopathic doctor and the remedy for her seems to be helping. We work with her alot at home and try to give her all the support we can. It is hard to see your child hurting and I am glad you are now back on the right track. Good luck to you and your family!!!! Rhonda
