Has anyone experienced hives with Mirena? I had it put in about 7 weeks ago and now I seem to have broken out in hives on my arm. I have not experienced any other significant side effects so far.

I have had horrible side effects from the Mirena IUD. I'm having it taken out tomorrow October 8th. They are: Constant Cramping, Horrible Acne on my face, neck and back, Not being able to loose weight, Swelling in my Stomach, Pain down my right leg while cramping, Tired all the time, Stuffy nose and sinus problems - started immediately, etc.... The worse for me would be the fact that I cannot breathe through my nose. I've had the IUD since July 08 - and since then I haven't been able to breathe through my nose. I keep on getting sinus infections. It's horrible. I hate it!!! I'm just glad I'm getting it taken out tomorrow!!

Hello:

Yes, I have been having hives for the past 3 months. I believe it is a side effect to the Mirena! I had my Mirena put in on January 19, 2008. I started to get hives, angiodema, swollen hand and feet, joint pain, extremely itchy hands in July. I had my Mirena removed on August 19th. Since I had it removed there has been no change. I have see ever doctor. Thankfully, no lupus, no RA, had one hive biopsy. No vasculitis. I have been on zxyal, alavert, singular, allegra, clartin, zantac, zyrtec, and hydroxyzine. The only thing that works is prednisone! I just can't live on it. It blows you up like a balloon. I don't recomend this IUD. My life has become a nightmare.
