I stopped taking Lipitor 8 mos. ago and I still have many side effects from this dangerous drug. Any of the statins will cause the side effects. Unfortunately, most drs. don't know the side effects, all they know is to push drugs . . . . instead the altermatives. I am taking several natural products to help the side effects and control my cholesterol. Perhaps your dr. will put you on disability temporarily.
Good luck
I still taking the Statin?
Diana, you might want to try 300mg coQ10 per day to see if that helps.
In the event you were permanantly injured, I encourage you to obtain a muscle biopsy to confirm Myopathy. Keep in mind that case history shows us that statin induced myopathy can exist in the presence of normal CK, and muscle biopsy is the proof.
Since you are a medical professional, I would like to put you in touch with others who have had the same or similar experience as you on statins. There are internet support groups. Doctors who have been injured, and books written about all this. There was even a study at UCSD on statin side effects.
After seven years of study, I have learned alot about cholesterol, statins, etc.
