I just HAVE to add my story here!! I was on Lexapro 20mg for 2yrs. All was pretty well. It somewhat controlled my anxiety & panic attacks (I have GAD) and it helped stabilize my moods (I am Bipolar), BUT I DIDN'T like that it made it to where I couldn't cry when I wanted to but yet cried at inappropriate times! I basically came to a stand-still with the lexapro and it KILLED my sex drive, so bad that my relationship was at risk (well, thats what I think, cuz no man is happy with NO sex!!) So, I SLOWLY came off them over a month, and even though it was very slowly, the WITHDRAWAL from this drug is just a horrible experience that I hope none of you that are taking now, will ever have to go through what I did!! I seriously thought at one point I was going to die!! I was severely sick for one week-- nausea, vomiting, the runs, hot flashes, cold flashes, the shakes, internal tremors, severe migraines, dizziness when I sat up or stood up, and I got bad electrical zap feelings in my hands & brain (which, even one month & 3 weeks later, I am still having!!) But to you all still on them, I also had weight gain on them, head rushes, dizziness, headaches, internal tremors, and I didn't like that it made me generally dumb!!! Since coming off, I still have the "duhhh" moments, getting less & less, thank goodness, now if only these darn "Zaps" would go away. But yeah, the side effects of this & the withdrawals are HORRIBLE!!! I will never take this again!! So much for newer drugs eh!!

Whew not alone on this one either! I barely tappered off before I just stopped cold turky. Wanted that crap out of my body. I pretty much had the side effects you described while on them, but getting off them were you extremely tired to the point where you did not want to be social whatso ever? I cant even get up to go to work at times. Its only been about 2 weeks, but Im just praying that there will be relief soon.

OMG! I am so happy to hear that I am not alone. (I'm sorry I don't mean that about you having to go through it). I have been trying for a few months to get off of the lexapro. Sadly I was only on it for a few months to begin with, when I realized that I couldn't cry, I simply had no emotion. That really bothered me, because if you knew me before they called me "crying Tracy" lol.
Anyway, I gradually lowered my dosage until I thought ok I won't take anymore. About 4 days later I started getting these internal tremors, and cold chivers. I thoughtI was getting sick. I talked to a nurse that I work with and she told me that it was part of the withdrawal symtoms. So I decided to take a 4th of a pill and low and behold the tremors went away, only to return in a few days. This has lasted for a long while and now I am at the point where I am not taking any pills, but I still have the tremors and the cold shivers. I hate it and I pray that it goes away. My mind is like the early stages of Alzeimers and that is really scary. I lose my train of thought constantly. I can't remember simple words while I am talking. I too hope that someone reads this before they decide to try lexapro. Don't get me wrong, it does work for panic attacks, however my panic attacks are far less terrifying that the side affects of the lexapro.
Thank you for posting this information, I feel much better, although I hope the tremors stop too.

Yes I wondering how long did the withdrawl symptoms last. I am pregnant so I stop taking the Welbutrin and the shock waves are really bothering me.

How many mg were you taking. I am taking 20mg and have tried to ween off of them. I was absolutely miserable and dizzy. Brain zaps like crazy. I want to go off of them but HATE the withdrawl symptoms.
