I am also experiencing problems with my 17 year old son who has been on Singulair for one year. I took him off off it for a few days this past week and I saw a huge difference but he became very congested and begged me to give it to him. I replaced it with Claritin and he already takes Zyrtec at night but the Claritin wasn't cutting it so I gave him the Singulair. Within 2 days I have seen the side effects return. I am very interested in the "nettie pots" you speak of. Could you explain what this is. Is it a pill supplement or a liquid or powder of some sort and can I find it in the pharmacy at Walmart? Thank you for your help. I am anxious to find an alternative to the Singulair. Gail
Hi. In your response to what is a "nettie pot", it is a natural way to cleanse your sinuses by way of salt water. I think I mispelled it. I guess it is actually spelled "neti pot". The "neti pot" itself looks kind of like a miniature teapot. You fill it with warm salt water and pour a constant stream into one nostril, which goes through your sinuses and out the other nostril. It sounds gross, I know, but it doesn't hurt. I saw it on Oprah. People, long time allergy sufferers, say it works great. It cleans out pollen, etc. and there are no harmful side effects. I have seen a plastic one at Walmart for $5 in the pharmacy section and CVS and Walgreens sell them too ($12-$14). I hope this helps. :) For an example, check out this link to you tube. It's great. www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8KOsNtpV8w
