hi, please can someone help me :-( I'm 17 and this is my first time on any pill, I was on mefenamic acid to deal with painful periods but had to stop after I used them incorrectly. I started Yasmin 6 days ago, and since my period stopped I have had constant pain in the left side of my back, headaches, am very tired and constantly feel like I'm about to be sick. Is this normal? My parents don't seem to understand how much it's affecting me and I can't keep missing school.

Call you doctor immediatelly. I would be very concerned about back pain and headaches. I would even stop using the pill if I were you.

I do not want to scare you, so stay calm and call your doctor, even if your parents don't understand or want you to. You are in charge of your health, and if you are noticing that much change to your body, something is wrong. Tell your doctor or their nurse this is urgent and tell them about the pain. A dear friend of mine suffered from a blood clot, known as a pulmonary embolism, in her lung that could have killed her had it gone to her heart. Her main symptom was pain in her back, on one side and shortness of breath with dizzyness. Her doctors ignored it for two weeks until her boyfriend took her to the ER and they found the clot through a catscan. Please, be diligent and get this taken care of. Your parents have no idea how bad this yasmine or yaz pill is, and it is no fault of their own or yours, as hundreds of other people thought it was safe until they took this pill and got severly sick. Show them this website, there are over 4,400 posts and most are of women getting sick from this pill. Take good care and get yourself well. Best wishes to you.

Please go back to the drs. and talk with him or her. I admit at you age I had the worst periods ever and birth control was the best thing ever at that time. However there were'nt a whole lot to choose from, but it did it's job at that time. Now I'm not saying that don't take anything, because you may need to be on something for awhile until your body stops changing for a bit. There are so many different kinds of bc out there. I have learned that if something makes you feel extremely horrible, then it's time to make a change. My biggest mistake was not doing anything at all. I only wish that I would of had this kind of site and access a long time ago. i think that you should sit down with your mom and talk to her about it. If you are not comfortable perhaps try the school nurse maybe. But definitely take care of this matter asap so you do not end up suffering in the long run.
