I have been on seroquel for 5 years now. Of course I gained weight, but I used healthy diet and exercise to maintain a healthy weight. However, despite all that my cholesterol is at 260. The doctor tried to say it wasn't Seroquel, but I know it is. I have weened myself off over the past few weeks and it has now been 4 days without it. I am constantly nauseous, cannot sleep and at this point am scared to death because I remember how horrifying getting off Effexor was. Can anyone tell me if this gets any better?

I know from experience that taking yourself off of Seroquel is horrible. I remember it. Your doctor is probably wrong about the weight gain if you have been keepign the same diet and exercise as you did before. When I told my doctor about gaining about 5lbs a week regardless of what I did to stop it he recommeded a drug called Topamax. It is "off label" for weight loss. It obviously has it's own set of side effects, as all drugs do, but it worked for me. Hope that helps a little.

Seroquel is the drug from hell. I gained 60 pounds, but the drug is so Sedating that you don't even care. It's like living a nightmare that you can't wake up from. Getting off it is even worse. I wouldn't wish it apon anyone-even people I really hate. It's been 3 weeks since I stopped taking my 900mg a day and I still feel drugged and lethargic. This drug is Societies revenge against the outwardly rebellious.aaahhh!!!!

Getting off Seroquel is hell and more, but you are not going crazy! The side effects of going off it will make you sweat all the time and make you do crazy things without caring if you're not careful. Find someone you can trust and talk to them-not your Dr. who makes his or her living by prescribing this med. from hell.
