What exactly do we need for a class action suit, guys? Side effects: Severe disorientation as if very drunk (vertigo, dizziness, feeling "out-of-body" or high), hallucinations (including feeling things crawling on me), overwhelming fatigue (as if I hadn't slept for days), muscle soreness (as if I'd exercised for hours), joint and tendon pain (especially in hands, wrists and ankles), insomnia, nausea (lost 8lbs in a few days), racing heartbeat, dehydration, ringing in ears, stomach cramps, yeast infection and spotting. The drug immediately made me sick but I thought it was just the sinus infection, and unfortunately kept on taking it. The side effects were actually worse AFTER I stopped taking it (I got much worse before I got better). If you're on this stuff, STOP IMMEDIATELY. If you're scared and experiencing side effects as I did, PLEASE KNOW that they are real (you're not imagining things) but they WILL go away. Listen to your body, rest as much as you can, and drink plenty (and I mean PLENTY) of fluids. Despite the nausea, eat SOMETHING (toast, bananas, applesauce). This is a 24-hour drug, so (verified by my pharmacist) due to its half life, it takes a MINIMUM of four days to leave your system. I only started feeling non-drugged a full 7 days after I stopped taking it. The fatigue lingered (kind of like getting over the worst bout of flu EVER) but now it's slowly going away, too. This stuff was an overwhelming blow to my physical health (I've NEVER been this sick), but I'm getting better. YOU WILL, TOO!

WoW! I have a Sinus Condition>>>Sinusitus>> As they call every Sinus condtiton or associated problem. I was just getting ready to pop my first pill of AVELOX! I read some stories about some side effects the other day, and they were alarming. Some mentioned stomach problems, Abdominal pain, etc. That scared me because I have Colitis and a bad stomach. But after reading your story about Halucinations/Flu like symptoms, etc. I AM NOT TAKING THIS CRAP!!!!!!!! Thank you!!!!

Tracy,

Did your Sinus problem go away? If so, what did you use? I am considering the removal of my Polyps and infected sinus material ASAP. I was going to wait until I tried this 10 Day RX of AVELOX, but now I may schedule this and get it done. I have been battling this for 3 months now. Nothing seems to work. I tried 5 day Zpac...then LEVAQUIN.....Nothing has helped. Please respond if you see this. Thanks, my name is Scott.

To Scott:

The thing that's helped me the MOST is using a Neti Pot. Strangely enough I got into the habit of NOT using it, but I'm using it again. It helped to clear up the sinus infection.

Related or not, but I was also taking an intensive dose of elderberry supplements (also known as Sambucol) and as I mentioned, drinking a LOT of liquids.

Hi Tracy, I would appreciate if you can let me know how you feel now? Did you recover from this horrible drug? I took only 3 pills, and it has been 6 days since I took my last pill and I am still lightheaded and worry that it will not go away. I also experience some diziness. I feel i am not myself yet. I feel I cannot control my head and such a pressure on the right side of my head. Have you experience the same? When will it go away? Thanks for helping,
Luiza.

Luiza, it will go away (unfortunately) slowly but (fortunately) surely.

It's been about a month since I last took this stuff and I still have some days that I don't feel 100%, but that may be stress or other factors (I still have occasional sinus problems and for obvious reasons I have no plans to go to the doctor for any more so called "help" - so I rely on OTC meds and my Neti Pot). My appetite has never fully returned. That's not necessarily a bad thing (I had weight to lose anyway). But I used to be able to really EAT and since taking Avelox, I can't finish a meal and I snack a lot less.

As for you, remember everyone reacts differently to medications. Give it time. Some people took months to get over this stuff and other people were fine 24 hours later. Me? I'm the kind of person who can't even drink a few sips of beer without getting drunk so I think I'm sensitive to chemicals anyway.

One of the worst parts about this experience was when people seemed ANNOYED at me that this drug was affecting me so badly. I even had an employer accuse me of faking it (even though I wasn't at a job where I was getting paid for sick time). That resulted in a major loss of work and income, depression, you name it. One other friend (also a friend of my doctor) has stopped talking to me, insinuating that I was making the whole thing up and took the doc's side.

If it helps you at all, please know that if you've stopped taking the drug, the symptoms of course won't get worse. The best way I can describe my recovery was "one step forward and two steps back." You'll feel better and then you won't and then you'll feel better again, etc. until you recover.

From everything I've read about this drug, I'm completely convinced that this isn't something like a regular cold med or something that just needs to get out of your system. This is something that affects your mind, body, nervous system, etc. So, unfortunately for a lot of us, getting "ourselves" back is not easy.

This whole thing, again, isn't "just taking a drug" or "just having a bad reaction." This is a full on ORDEAL.. Give yourself time to recover. KNOW that it's alright to not feel okay for awhile (as scary as that may be) and know that each day will be a bit better. KNOW that you are going to be okay. You don't need to cause your body extra stress by worrying that it won't go away. You're going to be okay. We all are.

I'll check back in here again to see if you post in a few days.

Hi Tracy,

Thank you so much for your help. I agree with you that some days are better than others. I felt not so bad for 2 days (day 6 and 7 after the last pill)and day 8 was horrible. There are days that I feel such a terrible pressure in my head that I cannot clearly think. Did you have that? When I drive I feel dizzy and want to throw up. I hope it will go away and my brain is not damaged. How can you compare the way you feel now with the days after taking the pill? Much better? Do you still experience this strenge thing in your head? Thank you so much for helping. We'll keep in touch...
