I hope your daughter was tested for blood clots in her lungs - you mentioned chest pain. This is one of the symptoms of pulmonary emboli. My daughter complained of some shortness of breath and funny little chest pains upon deep breathing on a Tuesday two and a half years ago. By the following Friday she was dead from pulmonary emboli. She had been on Yasmin for two months and eighteen days. Be careful.
Oh my gosh, how horrible and unbelievable! I am so sorry! Thank you for your advice and I will not take her complaints lightly. Do you x-ray to diagnose pulmonary embolism? She has had chest x-rays and is seeing a cardiologist for rhythm problems and fainting. This is so scary. Did you notice any psychological effects on your daughter with the Yasmin? I know her exposure was short, but then again, long enough. I admire your resolve to get on here and lend advice to other sufferers. My heart breaks for you...God Bless.
My daughter did experience mood changes and anxiety. We chalked it up to worry about school.
I am not a medical person but I have learned the following. There's a blood test called a dDimer that can test for blood clots anywhere in the body. Or the doctor can order sonograms or a scan.
My daughter had blood clots in her lungs. She was short of breath and had pain on deep breathing. She also had "funny little bloody noses" - especially upon waking. We thought it was just the dry air - turned out it was blood in her lungs. She was away at college so I could not "eyeball her."
She saw a doctor on Wednesday who just diagnosed anxiety after feeling her calves and not finding symptoms of blood clots in her legs (DVTs or Deep Vein Thrombosis). Most people who develop blood clots do develop them in the legs first.
I suggest that if your daughter's symptoms remain or worsen that you insist on having her tested for blood clots. If she develops shortness of breath consider it an emergency and take her to an ER. Better safe than sorry. I sure wish I had done so but I wanted to believe that the problem was "just anxiety." Unfortunately anxiety is also one of the symptoms of pulmonary emboli. I wish you and your daughter well. I would be interested to hear what happens if you don't mind sharing. Take care.
