Hi! I had the mirena inserted 6 weeks post pardum but I didn't lose my milk completely, thought I never seemed to have enough for my baby girl and ended up supplementing a little. I had it removed a little over a month ago, and my baby girls stays on for longer lengths of time now. But, I can't be certain of anything. I did, however, come across some information on the web about mirena and breastfeeding. I don't remember where, but if you would like, I can search it out again and send it to you. It mentioned that it could decrease milk supply. There is actually tons of info out there the the drug makers dont tell patients. And in response to the rectal bleeding, I would say more than likely it is a hemroid, which isnt really anything to worry about. Have you been straining at all when having a bowel movement? Or, was your baby born vaginally? These are things that can cause hemroids. You may have had one and just not have known it and something (wiping) irritated it and made it bleed. I hope this helps!
Thanks! I think you are probably right about the hemroids; just scared me a little. :)
It's irritating that doctor's keep certain information from you concerning meds. My doctor and I talked very openly about the fact that I was breastfeeding and wanted to continue to do so, and she never let on at all that it could decrease my milk supply. Very irritating.
Thanks for your help!
