My 11 year old daughter had been seen by a doctor to control coughing and wheezing brought on, I believe, by allergies. When she was 5 or 6 years old, she had an asthma attack and it happened again this year when we could not control the coughing and she was short of breath. That is when Singulair was introduced to her. about 4 weeks after taking medication, her heart started beating irregularly (called heart palpitations), and she was experiencing chest pains. (very frightening for mother and daughter). The Coughing subsided, and she was feeling good prior to the last week, when this started happening. After all the researching, the minor side effect is palpitations, however, how healthy is this and what else is going to pop up unexpectedly?

Palpitations and chest pain are NOT minor side effects. Do not continue Singulair. This is a clear sign that your child's genetic make up is not compatible with Singulair.

I do not believe that this is a panic attack. Think carefully that the rhythms of the heart are controlled by the nervous system. We don't have to get very detailed to know that many people are complaining of symptoms that relate to the nervous system. Adverse side effects can manifest in many ways and do not always occur immediately.

DO NOT TAKE SINGULAIR IF YOU EXPERIENCE ANY KIND OF NEGATIVE REACTION. IT IS NOT WORTH THE POTENTIAL DAMAGE. THERE ARE MANY TREATMENTS. IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE SINGULAIR.

I am a 41 year old woman that ended up in the hospital for 3 days because Singulair caused me heart rate to soar! When I walked into the E.R. my heart rate was 166 beats per minute!!!! I also had a major Upper Respiratory Infection. I kept trying to tell everyone in the hospital that I was having a reaction to Singulair, and they all thought I was wrong...until they did every test in the book, and it all came back normal! I've been fine since I stopped taking Singulair. Was worried that I would die and leave my two kids without a Mom.

I am glad you found this site because you will receive more information on Singulair from these posts than from any physician! Please accept flindy's invitation to visit the parentsforsafety advocacy site for comprehensive information of the possible psychiatric side effects of Singulair, which every parent whose child takes Singulair should understand. Best wishes!
