Good that your dr. stopped the Lipitor . . . . it is a dangerous drug with many side effects. I stopped taking it in 2-08 and I still have numerous side effects. It takes time to get rid of the poison in your system. I took it for 8 years. There are many natural products to help for any health issues.
Take care.
Pepsiman, Weakness in the legs is the most common place for muscles problems to develop on lipitor. The symptoms you describe sound like a classic case of statin poisoning. It may take a long time to recover since you have been taking the lipitor since 1998. Its important to understand that if cardiovascular disease is going to happen to a person, it will do so despite what serum cholesterol levels are. This is a hard cold fact that marketeers would rather you not know. I would reccomend taking 300 mg CoQ10 to restore this enzyme statins deplete from muscle tissue. You may also want to take about 3 grams per day fish oil. Inceasing LDL levels ( the one marketeers call bad cholesterol) could also be beneficial since the biological role of LDL is to make repairs to damages cells and nerve tissue. This could also prove beneficial in regaining memory since your brain is dependent on about 25% of your LDL for memory formation. Maintaining adequate cholesterol levels is critical for good health, hence the reason elderly people with higher cholesterol live longer and have fewer health problems. Its tough to stay healthy when we fire the Director of Bodily Engineering and Maintainance. His name is... Cholesterol.
