began taking lisinopril in June. To my mindtheBP has not reduced significantly but I have developed a dry cough with accompanying mucus especially at night or when I lie down.On two occasions blood was in the mucus. This only occurred recently(last week). I am due for a doctor visit and certainly will brig this up with him.

It sounds as though we are twins. I was begining to think that this was just another step in the aging process. Mines started with a dry hacking cough that felt as if my air way was closing off. Then the mucus coughs began. At night is the worst. I cough so hard that I can not control my bladder. My next appointment is not until 12/03/08. I can hardly wait to see my doctor again. I am so pissed about this.

I'm a 65 yr old female recently diagnosed with borderline HBP. I was prescribed 5mg Lisinopril in October and have been taking it daily. I have developed a nagging "itch" in my throat that keeps me awake most of the night. My cough is dry but persistant. I tried cough syrup, cough drops, gargling with salt and soda, everything I could think of but it just keeps getting worse. I also have bladder issues and am in remission from bladder cancer. I have to wear a pad to bed because of incontinence when I cough. I'm sure after reading your post and many others it's from the lisinopril. I will stop taking it tomorrow and call my doctor to ask for something else. I am also beginning to get pains in my thigh muscles.
