I got the Mirena in July because I was bleeding so heavily during my periods and had low Ferritin - not anemia yet, but potentially close to it. SO I chose to have this inserted, and the past few months have just seemed to get achier and achier. I could also have a B12 deficiency which is being looked into, but is this a side effect that has been reported frequently? I've also had more headaches than usual, and numbness of hands/feet, a classic symptom of B12 deficiency. But still - the achiness is freaking me out.

I had b12 deficiency due to taking Yasmin pill. I had debilatating health problems for 3 years. I had the same ferritin issue. After injecting b12 for several months I began to have less joint pain and my numb limbs began to recover. It took me almost three years after Yasmin to get my health back. This drug is horrible. Good luck. I also had a low protein c antigen which led me to have a propensity to clots. I would bleed uncontrollably with menses.
Their is a class action suit in place for Yasmin. Communicate with Erin Brockovich at erin@brockovich.com regarding suit. Good luck.

Yasmin, Yaz and any medication (contraceptive) with ethinyl estradiol can cause B12 deficiency in users. Research this on net. B12 deficiency when left undiagnosed causes neurological damage, swelling to limbs, heart palpitations, blood clotting many issues. Currently the law firm of Girardi & Keese is bringing litigation against Bayer. In my case my B12 deficiency will affect me for life as it was undiagnosed for 3 years after taking Yasmin and I have irreversible damage. Also a B12 deficiency that goes on for more than 3 months can lead to your body not being able to absorb b12 for life. Which means injections of b12. If you would like to contact Girardi/Keese on this matter the attorney is Amy Solomon 213.977.0211. You may reach me at k@caminoskarina.com.
