I had the same and immediately gained weight. I had night sweats, insomnia, acne and mood swings. Libido? What Libido? I went to a wellness dr, not my Obgyn, and she told me it was putting me into pre menopause. Ok, I'm only 33. That just won't work. I had it take out immediately and within 3 days, I was a new person. No more sweats, insomnia and the rest was getting getter. Further to the damage caused, we did blood work to see where all my hormones were at. My progesterone was 1/2 what it should be. This is the mean sucker that caused all of the problems, including the weight gain! I am now on a NATURAL suppliment to replace the progesterone and on day 2 I couldn't believe how great I felt. I had been feeling so bad for so long that I forgot what feeling good was like. I will never go back to the Mirena. All birth controls have side effects because they are putting unnatural hormones into your body. This is why the disclaimers on the commercials are so fast and long. It's because these things really have happened to people! The only safe birth control, other than abstainance of course, is the copper non hormone IUD. Doctor's generally don't like to do those because the other companies like Mirena pay them to give them to people. They don't make as much money with the old school.
Sorry, I forgot to tell you that once I had it removed, I had a period that week that was kind of heavy, then only once per month after that but they were a little spread out. They are normal now. I'll take that any day!
I just was fitted with my Mirena about a month ago, and I am soooo tired..Of course, I have also had a period for a month now as well. As a reliable form of B.C. I would suggest the Nuvaring, it was what I was on before this and it worked very well for me as I have problems remembering pills as well. I thought this would be about the same given the horomone, but it definetly is NOT! I'm getting mine out next week because I have 2 one year old twins, and they deserve better than this cranky, tired person who cries for no reason....
