It may be very difficult for you to detect many of the side effects in a child that young - someone who is developing and who can not communicate feelings and physical symptoms! I am convinced that this is a dangerous medicine that should NOT be given to children!

I agree with sing. There has not been enough testing on children that small. In addition, Singulair has only been proven to be "modestly" effective. Inhaled corticosteroids are the most still the most effective treatment for children.....especially one so small. If it were me I would DEMAND that your doctor provide you with an alternative to Singulair. This can be a very dangerous and risky drug for children....regardless of what your doctor may tell you. The families on this board will all vouch for what I'm saying.

Please ask for a different drug...no reason to risk it with you little one.

Please visit the Parents United for Pharmaceutical Safety and Accountability website at www.parentsforsafety.org for comprehensive information on Singulair's side effects. Also, as "matthewct" pointed out, the medical evidence indicates that Singuliar is not the most effective treatment for allergies OR asthma. As "sing" stated, it may be difficult to identify side effects due to your child's young age. Be informed and be alert to ANY changes in your child's behavior. My son had a very bad experience with this drug and if I knew then what I did now, I never would have let him take it.

Good for you for reaserching,be on the look out for, sleep disruptions, crankiness, whinning excessivly, anger, anything that makes you think your child is different, you may put it down to teething or a cold or not feeling well, but your first thought should be singulair.Good luck to you wishing you all the best, personnally would not give this med to my dogs in my mind pure pure poison
