After I got my IUD removed 2 mos ago, my male obgyn showed no empathy so I changed to a female obgyn and saw her yesterday for an annual checkup. I explained to her what had happened and she gave me the same dumb straight face look - "No, I wasn't aware of weight gain or other side effects from Mirena". I bet you she won't get my co-pay again. Back to the drawing board, searching for someone to believe my misery. Is there anyone out there who has a doctor who believes them????????

Not all doctors are evil! Mine has been very receptive to my complaints, and has said that in the last 6 months, she has started hearing more concerns from women about weight gain, decrease in sex drive, and depression. Doctors are not God. They are medical specialists, but things change all the time. We are continually learning more and more about prescription medications and what their long term effects are. By being diligent about reporting my personal experiences to my doctor, the manufacturer and the FDA, I am helping make sure that my negative experience with the Mirena has a purpose other than making my life miserable for the last couple of years. The more women who do this now will help improve things for other women in the future.
