I know how you feel you are not alone, visit www.parentsfoesafety.org for more info. The insomnia is the worst, sleep deprivation is a form of torture,it was our experiance the side effect to take the longest to resolve.8 months off now not to much to complain of 90% better. Also had no issues coming off as far as asthma, maybe even an improvement, although in the first 10 days was woprried but took him to the doc,and his lungs were clear, just throat mucos good luck, hang tough
Refer to the National Heat Lung and Blood institute's recommendations for treating asthma near the bottom of the home page of www.parentsforsafety.org. The recommended treatment is inhaled corticosteroids as a first line of treatment. Singulair is not a first line treatment for allergies either. The serious nature of the reported side effects indicate that this drug is NOT safe. Children have developed crippling anxiety, depressive, seizure and other mental health disorders, while taking this drug and experienced a remission in symptoms when they stopped.
The FDA is currently investigating a connection to behavior/mood changes, depression and suicide. Your children's doctors should know this! This fact, and the fact that your children's symptoms are listed in the side effects and post-marketing experience in the prescribing infomation for singulair on Merck's website, should motivate them to explore Singulair as a possible source of your children's symptoms.
If your children's doctors don't take your concerns seriously and refuse to change your children's medications, find new doctors.
Good luck - I'm glad you found this website.
