My hair kept coming out by the handfuls. I've lost at least 8 inches since I started simvastatin! I mentioned this to the endocrinologist and he said he didn't know, but he prescribed it. I am furious, hair is a woman's crowning glory.

Hair loss is one of the known side effects. There are many more.

The side effects are similar for all statins. Therefore even check out the messages for the others - for instance Lipitor, Mervachor, Pravachol, Zocor (=Simvastatin).

They can appear soon or little by little over the years. Often be mistaken for other diseases or old age. Be ware!

Please educate your self - read books such as "The Great Cholesterol Con" (Anthony Colpo), The Myths of cholesterol (Uffe Ravnskov), Overdosed America (John Abramson), Malignant Medical Myths (Joel F. Kauffman) etc.

Google - "Stopped our statins". Under print articles to the left - there´s an interesting and informative article from the Weston Price Foundation.

I saw side effects in people close to me. That`s why I want to encourage you and others to make up your own mind about the cholesterol issue.
