I am so glad to know that I am not the only one that feels like I am in a "fog". I just associated that with normal motherhood stress, lack of sleep, full time job, and a husband who works several nights out of the week, leaving me to do most things on my own. I am normally a very active, get things done, kinda person, but lately I have felt like I didn't know if I was coming or going...and completely forgetting my train of thoughts and what I was working on. It's the weirdest thing. I have never felt this way before. On top of this, it seems as if I am bleeding every other week. My husband is completely frustrated! I tell him "How would you like it if your were bleeding all the time and had no control over when it happens?" It's hard on me too! I have had Mirena for almost a year now, but I am SO ready to be done with this "thing". Can someone explain to me why my head feels so "foggy" all the time???

The brain fog for me was one of the most disturbing side effects. I thought I would lose my mind, if not my job. I couldn't remember what I did the day before and would find myself stopping mid-sentence because I could not remember what I was going to say!! I could tell the difference right after removal...while walking to the car...it was like one of those Claritin commercials where they peel back the film. It took about two weeks for it to leave completely...but my concentration, memory and clarity came back. With me, I ended up being diagnosed as POST-menopausal 3 months after removal (at age 43) because I never had another period and started having hot flashes. I am now taking transdermal estrogen and now I know that when it's almost time to change my patch, I can get tired/forgetful....although nothing like I was on the Mirena. This leads me to believe that the Mirena was disrupting my normal estrogen/progesterone balance...too much progesterone/progestin can give you headaches, make you feel "heavy"....and I further discovered that I could no longer take my allergy medication (Allegra) because it made me feel like I had concrete in my head! Once on the estrogen, when I started taking the Allegra for the spring allergy season, my legs swelled up....this had never happened before....so no more Allegra for me. Good luck and take care.
