I had an infection in my finger. I went to the dermatologist and she took a culture of my wound; she put me on Keflex (--3 pills a day for 10 days....I had no side effects at all)....I went back for a follow up and the results of the culture showed that I have a staph infection and the keflex was resistant to the bacteria but cured 70% of the infection...so she put me on Levaquin. I took one pill and this stuff did a number on me....my heart was racing and I was tremling and didn't sleep at all so I called the doctor the next day. That's when she switched me to Doxycycline. I was okay the first 6 days on it. Then the hell began....first off: there really should be a BIG warning on the label to take this stuff with a ton of water because and NOT to lie down for 30 minutes after taking it. I wasn't doing that because I didn't want to be getting up all night long to use the bathroom (had I known why they said to take it with so much water I would have done it) & I missed the little blurb in the directions about not lying down for 30 minutes. By day 6 I couldn't sleep, my heart was racing, head pounding (in the back), my throat was soar and felt like a lump was in it. I finished 9 days worth of it Wednesday (barely sleeping since Sunday night) and was suppose to finish it up yesterday but couldn't take it 'cause I needed some sleep last night. Being off it all day Thursday I slept like a baby that night. I went back to the doctor yesterday and she was stunned that it's bothering me as she said it's a mild antibiotic--....YEAH, RIGHT! She wants me to finish it off so I took one this morning and will take one more tomorrow morning....then I will NEVER touch this stuff again. One bright note; my finger is healed.
