i just posted a question but for some reason i don't see my post anymore in the thread.i just wanted to add that i have gone through all the posts and if there was anyway to take back all the medication i have already given my 2 1/2yr old i would. i feel really bad about putting him on it - but my doc gave us 'free samples'...it's better to get medicines from the pharmacy where the pharmacist at least tells you the possible side effects...my son has been displaying all the bad behavior described by all the parents as well as pain in the legs on a few occasions at night. this drug should be banned. i am so furious with his doctor for making him take it.
concerned mom-really sad
Leg pain is a side effect of Singulair. This is serious and should not be ignored. If there is no other medical reason for the leg pain it is crucial that your son stop taking Singulair to determine if it is the reason for the pain. If your son has asthma, it is important to call his physician before stopping and have alternate medication available to treat his asthma symptoms.
I do not know why Singulair causes muscle pain, but I do know that it is not the most effective or safest treatment for either allergies or asthma.
For more information about Singulair's side effects, visit www.parentsforsafety.org.
Best wishes.
My daughter will be 8 in February and has been on singulair for 4 years.
I am sad to say I had no idea this drug could cause so many side effects.
When her leg pain strikes it can be in one or both of her legs, mostly her
left leg. It seemed that she got it just before being diagnosed with either
a lung infection, strep throat etc. I told my doctor and he said leg pain is
too non specific to be related to anything. When the leg pain stikes, she can't seem to stand on her leg or legs that hurt, she also does not want to walk, she says her leg hurts too much. We tried massaging her leg muscles without success and usually end up giving her some Tylenol or Advil to end the pains. She cries alot when her leg hurts and normally has a very high threshold for pain. I did read the side effects on the paper inclosed with the medication but am now researching side effects because her perosnality has changed, she seems to be suffering from anxiety, is way more aggressive and has a lot of fears developing. Her worst fear is being left alone and she does not want me to go anywhere. When I ask her why? She doesn't know.
Hope this helps with your inquiry.
