My son struggled with anxiety and behavior problems for many months after stopping Singulair. The difference was that he no longer was obsessed with death, and also he showed steady improvement. I would suggest you get help for your son (and for you) because the recovery process can be slow and frustrating. Your son's issue may be anxiety if it isn't ADHD. My son doesn't have ADHD but his anxiety affected his behavior in similar ways. I also recommend the book The Explosive Child by Ross Greene. Finally, I would say that after 9-10 months of being off the Singulair there was a significant shift- he became a lot more tolerant and could handle many things that had been difficult before. Today he still has anxiety, but it takes a major event to set him off.
Whoops I forgot to tell you to go to www.parentsforsafety.org to join others to fight for better labeling. Also you can read more recovery stories.
I am experiencing the same thing. My son was on Singulair for 5 months and off for almost 3 months now. I believe he got 80% after quiting singulair. He developed major anxiety and ocd which is now gone. But he also developed the hyperactvity and aggitates easily which is the 20% missing. I firmly believe singulair has permanently damaged my child, and I feel there is absolutely NOTHING I can do about it.
My son was on Singulair for approx. 4 years. (Is 6 now) Took him off a little over a year ago. For a few months noticed great improvement, then total turn around (in the wrong direction.) Thinking may be Singulair related, but am not sure. In the process of evaluating.
