I have been on Yasmin since April of this year, 2008. My doctor put me on Yasmin because of a hormonal imbalance caused by PCOS. At first, all I noticed was my periods had become regular and my skin had cleared up. About 4-6 weeks later, I started experiencing EXTREME pain in my right breast. After the onset of the pain, just my right breast became enlarged. A few weeks later I started having chest/heart pains at random times. It started occurring when I would run and that made me really scared. I had the feeling of having a heavy rock on my chest and wasn't able to get a real breath. After an EKG my doctor confirmed that my heart was healthy. Here is a list of some of the other side effects that I noticed: no sex drive, weight gain, TIREDNESS, forgetfulness, cramps in my legs, but only while sleeping, extreme thirst. I am so grateful that I found this website. It's just awful to hear some many other women complaining of the same symptoms.

Did your doctor check for blood clots in your lungs? There's a blood test called a dDimer that can detect blood clots anywhere in the body. There are also scans that can be done. Using birth control pills increases the odds of getting blood clots. Sometimes they are in the legs (Deep Vein Thrombosis) and sometimes they are in other parts of the body such as the abdomen, the lungs, the heart. Please be very cautious and insist on being check out for blood clots. My daughter died in her third month on Yasmin from blood clots in her lungs (Pulmonary Emboli). Her symptoms were shortness of breath and a "funny little pain on deep breathing." She also had little bloody noses on waking. On a Wednesday these symptoms were misdiagnosed by a doctor as anxiety. That Friday she collapsed in the morning, was taken to an Emergency Room, was misdiagnosed there also and 8 hours later she was dead. Shortness of breath should never be ignored - particularly when taking Yasmin. I urge you to be assertive about your own health. Please take care.

I am so sorry to hear about your daughter. I know how hard her sudden death must have been. One of my dearest friends also lost her daughter to a drug reaction to Avelox, another Bayer medication, or poison if you ask me.

Tomorrow i actually have an appointment with my gyno and I will insist that she order this test. Thank you so much for the important information. This drug should be BANNED and I am doing what I can to tell as many women as possible to stay away from it at all costs. Funny thing is, I called Bayer to complain of adverese side effects from Yasmin. After listing all the things I noticed, the women on the other end informed me that, "except for the chest pain, all of my other symptoms are common when a woman takes any birth control." Can you believe that? I wonder how many thousands of women have already called to complain. I'm guessing that is one of their med's that gets the most feedback considering one of the promts on the phone says, 'Push 3 if this is regarding Yasmin."

Thank you again so much for your help. Take care!

I have the same side effects... and I didn't even know what it was until I looked up the pill and low libido. The noticeable thing about Yasmin, which I've been on since August 2008, is my vagina being extremely dry all the time and no sex drive! I thought it was me, but after reading yours and everyone else's testimonies, I know I can attribute it to Yasmin! I'm going to look for a non hormonal birth control now. It's not worth it to mess up my body.
