I am glad to read your symptoms for lisinopril. I have had pains under ribs and shortness of breath, had stents placed due to severe blockage and was thinking it was reblockage but now I am sure it is this awful med. I will call my PCP about it, but does anyone know if all BP meds have same symtoms?
Don't think that because the clinic prescribed Lisinopril that they are not as good as your primary care physician - and because you don't have health insurance. I say this because my Lisinopril prescription came from a cardiologist at a heart hospital. It was increased by another cardiologist and my internist went along with it too.
Looking back, my internist always checked my lungs each time I saw him, as he may have been smart enough to know some of the congestion, coughing, sinus stuff that could come on with lisinopril. Still, he didn't ask me about those things and I didn't tie them together. I was in his office, he listened to my chest and the next day I was ill with a fever, coughing, and middle ear infection! I did mention a very minor sore throat and drippy nose but that wasn't the reason I was there.
In my situation, I initially had some coughing, a tight feeling under my sternum (which I attributed to Vit D supplement) and gradually had heart problems, a bladder infection too, despite using amoxicillan for the middle ear infection. If I had to guess, Lisinopril "magnified" or brought to the surface problems I had. I have an ongoing bladder inflammation (interstitial cystitis), some heart flutters/palpitations including existing periocarditis, and had a( the first time) middle ear infection months earlier. I also had been diagnosed at the time I was given Lisinopril with Vitamin D deficiency, which has muscle pain symptoms and fatigue. It is thought that Vit D deficiency lowers the immune system and contributes to heart disease. Still, my problems are gone now that the Lisinopril has been discontinued. The Vit D deficiency was also an underlying thing like the bladder, middle ear, etc. I used a z-pak (azithromycin) to eliminate the middle ear and bladder infection the third time. My blood pressure is now normal, so I'm thinking the underlying low level infection has been causing/contributing to my high bp. I've had lots of "strep" like infections over the past few years, the same time that I've been Vitamin D deficient. I was always needing a nap and had food cravings, sweets too. Since I take the Vitamin D supplements...no cravings like before. It must all be linked because the lisinopril made it all worse! (I take Vitamin D with calcium, with a meal, 3x day (400-500mg each) It's eliminated my muscle aches and pains and minimized my food and sweet desires. I now need to find a doctor that can believe in my strep-type infections ...that they might be a cause of my high bp. Most causes are unknown.
Hope you're feeling better.
