Good that you stopped that dangerous drug. I am a victim of lipitor too. I stopped taking it 10 mos. ago and I still have side effects. I am taking natural products to help the side effects and control my cholesterol. There are alternatives that will help also.
Your story of pain with lipitor is very common. So common, its surprising when someone takes Lipitor and DOESN'T experience those side effects!
If everybody who experienced muscle pain and weakness on statins had to "take a number" your number would be something like 4,307,327.
Thats a long line of people to be standing in. I encourage you to speak out about what happened to you.
Since you are already 75% better in only 2 weeks, I think time is on your side and you will heal from the statin poisoning.
Recent research is uncovering new discoveries about LDL cholesterol and its role in neuro-muscular function. I think LDL cholesterol itself will be your best medicine for recovery.
Hope you get better soon, and thanks for taking the time to post here.
I took Lipitor for about 6 months. Right after I began taking it, my legs, especially my right leg began hurting. I got off the drug at 6 months because my legs hurt so badly I could not sleep at night. I just had X-rays of my right knee done, and I have almost no cartridge left on my right knee cap. I now may have to have knee replacement therapy. My doctor that put me on the lipitor said that it was not the lipitor that caused. I think it is very odd the pain began when I started the drug.
Sorry to hear about your knee. I don't know enough about Liptor's side effects but have read on the internet that some of the damage may be permanent. Suggest you keep researching on your own as the docotors may have a slanted view in their (and the drug companies) best interest.
Here's a recent article about the adverse side-effects of statins:
