I am a 50 year old woman and have been taking Lipitor for about the last 6 months. I have developed a severe case of eczema on my scalp as well as hair loss. Also I have been having pain in my hips. I never would have attributed my symptoms to Lipitor, but now I am thinking that maybe Lipitor is the cause of them. Also I read in some of the comments that it may be connected to memory loss. I have noticed I have a hard time remembering things too but never thought it could be related to taking Lipitor.

This dangerous drug can cause MANY side effects. I stopped taking it 10 mos. ago and still have side effects. There are natural products and alternatives to control your cholesterol . . . instead of take poison.

Welcome to the club. Those of us that have been injured by cholesterol lowering drugs understand what you are going thru. Hope you get better soon. Statin poisoning is no fun.

your brain needs fats and cholesterol to think and function. all this emphasis on low fat foods and on drugs that artifically suck the fat out of you is hurting everyone's memory and brain function.
my 84 yr old father also had a severe rash which started to clear up when he stopped taking statins

I have heard the complaint before of skin problems associated with statin usage.

Are you aware that although lipitor lowers cholesterol, lipitor has never been shown to prevent a cardiac event in females of any age group?

I neither read nor heard of any side effects from statin drugs before. It just never really concerned me. And then the other day I read an article about Lipitor may cause dry skin. So I looked it up on the internet and found this web site. I was amazed about all the side effects that statin drugs may cause. My cholesterol was just about 10 points higher than it should have been and my doctor put me on 10mg of Lipitor. I now am very concerned that it may have caused me to get this severe case of eczema. I have had other symptoms that were mentioned in some of the other comments, so I am taking my self off this medication. I hope my symptoms go away as well.
