feeling some relief to have validation to why i have been feeling this way. i thought i was going the way of father (heart attack in his 40s) due to many symptoms over the past month similar to heart issues, except the leg cramps. i thought of my mother in-law, her diabetes, poor circulation. i knew i had just had a thorough heart evaluation with my doctor last spring and everything was fine, except my hereditary cholesterol. frustrating. he had prescribed lipitor at that time. last week while driving to my office Christmas party i thought about driving straight to emergency. food always seemed to help, as well lots of water. I think because i had liquids when eating, dehydration is what was being addressed. on my own, i stopped lipitor (only prescribed medication i take) four days ago. no more nausea, no more light headiness (briefly early morning yesterday), no more weakness, leg pain decreased; these were my main symptoms. I also experienced occasional foot cramps, general aches, heaviness in my esophagus immediately upon eating (thought of my mom with her hiatal hernia) indigestion maybe. I had one episode a month ago (about the time all this started) where out of the blue i thought my legs were going to fall from under me, they became tingly like they were going to sleep, i was light headed as if i could faint. i had just finished a relaxing picnic by a natural stream, on a beautiful sunny day. doctors who prescribe this medication should be more aware of these side affects. seems they are either not listening to their patients, or do not have the knowledge of these side affects, and in result, should not be allowed to prescribe. My concern now is how long the discomfort in my legs will last, though they have improved. to make sure no serious damage has occurred, i will see my cardiologist in two weeks to have blood work. I would suggest to anyone who has not contacted their physician since stopping the statin, to do so. print a copy of this site and bring it with you! T. - 47 years - trying to stay healthy!

Good that you stopped this dangerous drug. Unfortunately, most drs. don't know about the side effects on the drugs they prescribe . . . . just push more poison. The drs. and the drug co.'s have a HUGE racket. I stopped taking this poison 10 mos. ago and I still have side effects, in spite that I am taking several natural products to help them and alternatives. Everyone is different, so I don't know how long to heal my body. . . maybe, never.

Todd, Most physicians will discredit the ineternet and blame the patient for looking to the net for an explaination of the symptoms. But the truth is the net can be a valuable tool is used properly.

777 is right. This whole lipitor thing is just a racket. Its all about sales, market share, and the patients health and well being is of no concern to the doctor.

I used to have high respect for physicians. Right now, I have more respect for my garbage man than doctors that prescribe lipitor. There are still a few honest physicians who will speak the truth about statins and the cholesterol scam. For them I have the highest respect.

You are correct. The doctors are not listening to their patients. Their profession has gone to the dogs. A shady used car dealer on the bad side of town has better customer service than many physicians today.

If physician pay were based upon customer satisfaction, doctors would be the lowest paid profession on the planet. Its time for performance based compensation for physicians.

good that you stopped the lipitor ,majority of doctors are not believing that cholestrol medication cause the problem, and explain about the net they are not beleving at all and saying they are all nonesence, but if the net is not reliable why every person who took cholestrol medication have all same side effect, symptom are similar .doctors have no knowelge about the medication side effect and some are earning money but patiants are paying high price.my father was victim of lipitor he took almost 7 years and most of his symptom like you and also severe muscle weakness and couldnt walk ,but he has improvement most of his problem not all ,he is managing his cholestrol by herbs which is a grate result and very effective.if you intersted theres alot of way to manage cholestrol.good luck
