My 7 year old son has been on Singulair since this spring for a dry hacking cough and allergies. The Singulair worked great clearing up his symptoms. We have not seen any behavioral changes. Our doctor said he only needs to take it during fall and spring when his allergy induced asthma is the worst. Both times that I have taken him off of it for a seasonal reprieve he has developed a VERY PAINFUL STOMACH ACHE. He doesn't vomit, but he rolls around complaining that his tummy hurts. I have seen other posts concerning stomach aches when on the medication, but I am wondering if anyone else has had this experience when they went off of it. Even if he forgot his medication a couple of days, the stomach ache will present.

Hello! I am 36 years old and used Singulair for 3 years. In addition to my asthma, I also have an auto-immune disease called Lichen Planus. My doctor is taking an "absolutely no meds approach" to treating my Lichen Planus because many meds can aggravate the condition. The first two weeks off of Singulair I had HORRIBLE stomach cramping--so bad I nearly went to the Emergency Room! I attributed my cramping to a stomach bug, yet I really didn't feel sick otherwise. I sounds like your son and I may had similar results from stopping Singulair.....

My daughter had very bad stomach aches. So bad that we went to her Dr. several times and they finally sent us to a gastro Dr. They could not find anything either. Her stomach ache was so bad. It was always around her belly button. When we finally woke up and took her of this horriable drug, the other side effects went away with in a few days. However her tummy ache took about 1 1/2 weeks before she was not complaining. Every day was a little better. I hope that there is no long term effects with ulcers.
