I took Lipitor for about 6 months. Right after I began taking it, my legs, especially my right leg began hurting. I got off the drug at 6 months because my legs hurt so badly I could not sleep at night. I just had X-rays of my right knee done, and I have almost no cartridge left on my right knee cap. I now may have to have knee replacement therapy. My doctor that put me on the lipitor said that it was not the lipitor that caused. I think it is very odd the pain began when I started the drug.

It was good that you stopped taking this dangerous drug before you had more side effects. This poison can cause MANY problems. I haven't heard where you could lose cartridge when taking Lipitor for 6 mos. but, everyone is different . . . It sounds like you might had a problem with your knee cap and Lipitor just made it aware.

Muscle pain and weakness is the most common reported side effect from lipitor, and the legs is the most common place for this to occur. This side effect is in the physician's prescribing information. Its very important for a physician to be able to read in order to practice. But even if your physician can't read, it would be impossible to be unaware of this side effect as its a HUGE subject matter in the medical field. Perhaps your doctor has been away on vacation for 20 years and just got back, and needs updating. Or perhaps you were lied to by the doctor. I vote for the later.

I'm wondering whether the drug attacks the "dodgey" joints more than the other joints. I had a total hip replacement and needed one on the other side as well. Since stopping the filthy poison I no longer need a second THR, the hip is a little niggly but I don't need any pain killer for it. After you stop taking this poison you tend to notice other things come better that you hadn't realised were going wrong. Best from new Zealand

My husband took this medicine and got to a place that he could hardly move as all his muscles hurt. Found out that if one has a reaction like this, it means you are allergic to the Statin that is in the drug. Doctor took him off that and gave him a different medication that did not have Statin in it..and all the pain went away. Most likely, its because you are allergic to Statin.
