HI - I posted a while back - but did not hear anything from anyone regarding liver enzymes. I am a 56 yr old female - blood pressure runs without meds about 160/90. My ALT levels started to rise about a year after taking Lisinopril ---- I was taking only 5mg for my blood pressure --- then my pressure started to rise - so was then inreased to 10mg -- after getting a high normal for ALT they had me repeat and right after going on the 10mg the ALT went even higher. I was sent to a gastro after an ultrasound showed everything was normal. I asked my internist if it was coincidental that my ALT went higher when I increased my Lisinopril -- she said she never hear of that - but had me go off for a week and see the gastro specialist -- he never heard that Lisinpril could cause that and refuses to believe that it does ------ and after being off of Lisinopril for 1 week my ALT levels went down. Went back on since my pressure was going up -- and of course the next test showed my ALT was high again. My interest has taken me off of Lisinopril and put me on a calcium channel blocker ----- I had an ALT test done 3 weeks after and my ALT is still not normal but has gone down............... I am to have another one in 4 weeks to see if it continues to go down. The specialist refuses to believe that Lisinopril has anything to do with it -- but yet can't find any other reason after many blood tests as to why my levels are increased. My levels were highest at 81. Please let me know what you find out regarding your levels -- I will be very interested to hear!!
