Please do not be reluctant to contact your daughter's pulmonologist to let her know you stopped giving your daughter Singulair. It is your right as a parent to make this choice, which you made based on information about the potential side effects. You had a right to hear this information before the doctor even wrote the prescription! If I had known the potential side effects of Singulair I NEVER would have given it to my son for his asthma and he would have been spared five years of suffering from psychiatric side effects! We now treat his asthma with Flovent, OTC antihistamines, and natural supplements and he is no longer anxious and depressed! We also keep a rescue inhaler on hand. He sees both an allergist and a naturopathic practitioner. When he first stopped the Singulair we initially tried a completely natural approach, but it was the middle of allergy season and not 100% effective. You can find more information about Singulair's side effects at www.parentsforsafety.org. Check the "Links/Resources" page for links to the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute's treatment recommendations for asthma, under "Information about Asthma and Allergies" and links to alternate treatments and practitioners. Best wishes!
