I was given Levaquin for a prostate infection. They prescribed me 750 mg for 30 days. I have been off of the drug for 3 weeks and I still have pain in my tendons. Shoulder tendons, knees, elbow and hands. How long can this last? I feel like I am dying.

I am so sorry you have joined us....this will take time and every individual is different. Read through past postings on this site and visit some of the suggested internet sites to gain information about what this drug is doing to you. Be very careful over the next few months as you are very suceptible to a tendon rupture if you do anything strenuous. PLEASE file a medwatch report as the posting prior to your asks. This is the only way we can continue to get the governemnt and FDA to recognize the disaster this drug can create for people. I am almost 3 years into this and I still wake up in pain, so stiff in every joint and tendon that I hobble around for the first hour of each day. Take care, stay strong and educate yourself. There are many of us out here, you are not alone.

So - I have only taken three 500mg pills (the last 1 hr ago - BEFORE reading these posts - arggh). I haven't noticed any tendon pain - that sounds almost like an allergic type reaction, i.e. immune system inflammatory response. However, I only got about an hour of sleep last night and couldn't nap this afternoon. I thought it was the decongestant I took yesterday, as I've had shallow sleep issues w/ pseudophedrine products before, but after reading the potential Levaquin side effects and these posts, I'm beginning to wonder....

It can take a very long time. I'm 2 yrs out and I suffer the consequences daily. Compared to the daily pain I have, the distal bicep tendon rupture was a piece of cake. I didn't have any difficulty while on the drug..... it came after I had stopped taking it (and I didn't finish the script either). This stuff (and the people who promote it) are garbage.
