Statin associated neuropathy is well know. Your physician should take a little time to educate himself if he doesn't understand the risks involved with the drug he is prescribing. There is no substitute for education.
You should gradually improve over the course of time. Recovery from statin poisoning usually takes a while, however some people recover quickly after stopping the drug.
Wish you the best, and thanks for taking the time to post your symptoms.

Just left a visit to my 88 year old Mother's PCP. I presented him with symtoms and behaviors she exhibits that seem to indicate rapid memory decline. She had open heart at 83, and my Dad of the same age quite emphatically assumed the role of cook, shopper, housekeeper, taking over the kitchen. I just learned today (on web) that a high fat diet makes it impossible for Zocor to work. Shortly after her heart surgery, she has emergency gall bladder/intestinal surgery. During that time I felt like her Mother. We noticed a personality difference. Perhaps from extended length of time heart lung machine was used. Her ability to experience and express joy was gone. Her leg muscles grew weak and she had a problem sticking to exercise. She complained of hotspots in her legs and feared a blood clot. She is also a type 2 diabetic. Today after testing my Mom's memory in his country way he referred her to the Homeservices dept of the county hospital. She does not read, has very little contact with others beside Dad I. She has stopped doing crossword puzzle. Does not leave the house as a result of her fear of falling. A mild stroke took away her ability to work with numbers in anyway. She cannot balance her checkbook. Some days she prefers sleep to awakening to life as it is. She watches TV with Dad, whatever his choice is. Her hearing and gums have been affected by the blood sugar. Her teeth are loose. She has no appetite. For a while we let her spend the day going through her volumes of junkmail snailmail wise. She goes over every page and keeping most creates yet another pile (5). She can spend the afternoon going through these papers. She has become paranoid about locking doors up at night. She had forgotten where she had placed a document and was in a search frenzy. I teased that on night I would clean up her desk as she slept. That stressed her more and she accused me of taking her medicine and of also mixing it up. I left so that she would calm down. She thinks my Dad and I talk about her and leave her out of conversation. I suspect dementia of some sort. Her sister both passed away, victims of Alzheimers. Imagine my surprise when the doctor stated without explaination that he was taking her off Zocor. She has been taking it for months maybe even years. He did say he thought it might improve her. I have to run home and research the side effects. Muscle weakness, kidney failure, breakdown of skelatal tissue, liver damage and a negative interaction with Protonix. She has taken Protonix for years. She frequently is unable to hold her urine or bowels leading to her isolation. Her hearing, gum problems and propensity towards TIA's most likely are from her years of uncontrolled blood sugar. Zocor if not recommended for diabetics. What part has it played in her declining health? We'll never know. I trying to figure out why he thought the Zocor was the problem. On the bright side we did get a referral to the Homehealth Services at the hospital for an in home evaluation. No mention was made of drugs to improve cognition. I know of course thay their impact is small. I can't help but wonder about what the impact might have been had we started drugs for for dementia sooner. Years ago. Minus Zocor.
Look into it and make your own educated guess. What I wouldn't do to have the imaginery Dr House take a look at her. Best of health!
