I have been taking Fosamax for 1 year. A few months after beginning this medication I have been experiencing lower back pain which I never had before. A few times I skipped a dose and seemed to feel better, but the doctor insisted that I needed it because of the results of a bone density scan which showed I had osteopenia. So I am presently still taking it and now with the back pain I am now having abdominal pain and just recently noticed blood in my urine. I may now have kidney stones. I am seriously considering throwing the rest of the Fosamax I have in the garbage.

bone density tests are set up to show that all women of a certain age have osteopenia so that they can sell you drugs that don't work. they are comparing you with the bone density you would expect to have as a 20 yr old.
just eat right and exercise and you'll be fine. and don't have anymore bone density tests!

I have taken Fosamax for 3 years, had a new bone scan this year, should have seen results, but still loosing bone density. Dr. talked me into getting the reclast, will not do that again, could not use my arm for a week, not to mention the pain. I will take my chances without the drugs, eat right and exercise.
