I've been on it for about 2 months, the first month nothing really happened...but the last month its just been getting worse and worse. Light headed, sweaty hands, cold feet, tinglinging in the fingers, heart palpitations, etc...the worst are the heart palps, and light headedness (I feel like I might pass out right now!). I stopped taking it today, my last pill was yesterday morning, so hopefully the side effects will subside today or tomorrow. for those who went off the drug, how long did it take for the side affects to disappear?

I'm also a 33 yr old active male. 5'6" 140 I was on Lisinopril for 10 days, off for 5 days, then back on for 10 days. I went off the med the first time because I was feeling great and didn't think I needed to be on the med in the first place. During this first ten days I experienced no side effects. The second time I went on the med I felt the side effects immediately. Sleeplessness, extreme lightheadedness, fatigue, panic attacks, anxiety, dizzy, fogy vision, ringing in the ears at night, weird headaches, shoulder and neck pain, cold hands, and nausea about 70% of the time. I lost 10 pounds because of loss of appetite due to constant nausea.
I thought I was dying or had serious disease, because my first try with lisinopril gave me no side effects. After ten days of freaking out, I finally googled ringing in the ears and blood pressure medicine. I was led to this site and finally knew what was wrong. I got off the medicine and within days started to feel better. Some lingered longer then others but most symptoms subsided and I felt pretty good after 1 week. 17 days after my last pill I had a relapse back into all the symptoms. It was after a vigorous soccer game that I had a panic attack and a sleepless night and then 10 days going on eleven with most or all of the side effects occuring everyday. They are not as intense but they definitely are there. I am still waiting for them to lift. I just don't understand how I could still be feeling these almost one month after taking my last lisinopril. I'm trying to be patient but I'm getting tired of feeling this way. Anyway good luck to you, I'm sure your side effects will clear up sooner then mine did.

I can totally relate. I have been off this drug since July 2008 and still having major symptoms like air hunger, anxiety which I never had before, feelings of impending doom, stroke symptoms, heart attack symptoms, stomach problems and depression, left ear problems and left knee problems. Occasionally my finger tips will start to burn and go numb. It got so bad I went and bought a life insurance policy cause I have a 5 year old daughter and I just knew I was at the end.
However, am making slow progress day by day. This drug destroys your immune system so I am trying to rebuild my immune system with diet and supplements.

Hey phylisrn, how long were you on the drug? and what was the dosage.
I certainly don't want to feel this way for six months. Are your symptoms constant or do they come and go? Are they triggered by anything in particular (exercise or eating)? I too am still struggling with the whole impending doom thing. I was such an upbeat positive guy before all this, now all I want to do is stay home and wait to feel better. What is your worst symptom or are they all about the same? Mine vary. One minute I think the dizziness and lightheadedness is the worse, then I think it might be the nausea, but then again the whole anxiety thing is really awful. I'm a mess. Anyone have a sensation of trying to pop ears but can't? Land234 same questions to you. Hope your day was good.

my symptoms are pretty much constant...they are a little better today, (3 days off the drug) but I'm still dizzy and light headed, but a bit more cheerful (less depressed, anxious)

Ive noticed some of the symptoms, nausea and dizzyness/lightheadedness go hand in hand with eating sometimes. I havnt been able to exercise yet, usually I run, but havnt in a month or so.

I pretty much have all the symptoms you guys discribe...the feeling like I'm going to die (impending doom) sucks...my heart palpitations drive me crazy as well. I couldnt sleep last night because of the heart thing...usually I'm asleep by 930 or 10, but last night I was up past midnight which is rare for me...

I'm going to the doc today, I'll be interested to see what he says about these side effects...

hope your days go well today!

That's a good way to describe the feeling..(black venom cloud)
I'm just over 1 month off lisinopril and that black venom cloud is still lingering around. I see tiny improvements each day but come on already. I need my energy and my smile back.

I am currently in the hospital for uncontroled blood pressure. The Dr. has put me on 5 different blood pressure meds and they all have severe side effects and really has not controlled my blood pressure. Very frustrated and have had every tests you can think of and everything is normal. Did some research on iodine and the effects of not having enough in your system that could contribute to having high blood pressure. When they do blood tests iodine is not even look at for high blood pressure. The sad part is that i actually feel great without the medicine, workout and watching what I eat. I only get dizzy and sick when I take the medicine. What to do!
