Are you sure you want to get one? Maybe after you read all these posts, you may change your mind. All of us on this site, cannot WAIT to get it OUT. ITs horrible. Oh and by the way, if you do decide to get it put in, if I were you I would have all the sex you can first because once it is in, you will lose your sex drive totally and therefore wont care if you can have sex or not ever again. I can see why its a contraceptive now.

My doctor said ok to have sex after inserted. I guess your dr. is trying to be on a safe side. Just in case the IUD is misplaced, so you will have a chance to get pregnant. If you really want to have sex, use condom to have a safe sex.

The doctor probably told you not to have sex for 14 days because they want to be sure that you are definitely not pregnant before they do the procedure. I got mine two days ago and it was horrible for me. I almost passed out in the Drs. I felt like I needed to vomit. I was hot, the cold. I had to stay at the office for another hour or more to het myself together enough to drive home. The pain was still bad after I got home. Now I'm reading these side effect blogs and wishing I had never got it. I don't know if it's just mental but I just don't feel right. I guess I haven't had it long enough to comment on any of the other side effect, but I do know I just loss my baby weight and if I gain it back over this I am going to be pissed!

I have had 2 mirenas put in.Each after I gave birth to my kids.The reason you can not have any sex 2 weeks prior to the inserstion is because the dr. want's to make sure you are not preagnant!If they put it in without knowing if you are preagnant or not,they could actually abort your baby!!!I waited both times and it was a little frustrating for my husband and I ,until I was told the reason for it!!!!!Don't lie to your doctor!!You could definately abort a child,and condoms are not the best protection!So,stay abstinant for your protection and a little babies also!!!If you have not had at least one child in the past,expect the insertion to be very painfull!!You uterus may spasym uncontrollably!My isertions were very simple,but make sure they cut the string very short or your husband will NOT be happy when he gets poked by it all!!! Even when I was told it was short enough,it never was,and would have to go back again to solve that problem!Overall,besides the cramps and bleeding for like 2 months sraight after you get it , I haven't realy had any problems at all!It's effective immediately and after I had my first one removed,I concieved my second child in 2 months!!This one I have now I eventually lost my period after a year,but at 2 and 1/2 years,I'm starting to spot old dark colored blood for weeks now!That's why I am researching more about it now.I did get way more dpressed and tired than usuall,and as I read all the other womens blogs,it seems to be common.I also went on an antidepresssant,which hasn't helped!!Migraines cane on,especially when it should be time for a period.I did not gain any weight at all.I have some acne again,at 33 yrs.old,but not bad.My back allways hurts,but I do have 6 herniated disks,so I don't know if that one is true for me.I am also bitchy alot more and have no energy what so ever!Could this all be from the Mirena?I don't know,but I do know it's a great contraceptive and works pretty good for me!I do feel like I am haveing menopause like syptoms at times,so I am seriosely thinking about takeing it out.I want to know if I'm going crazy emotionally and physically,or if a litttle contraceptive could be the key to all my problems!Time for my husband to get a Vasectomy!Less problems for men than what we go through as women!Hope this gave you alot to think about!God luck!It's not the worst,as long as you have had a baby!!
