I had muscle aces and pains most of that time but near the end of the 3 weeks I would loose the use of my left arm for periods. I would feel faint and very weak. I have had restless leg since I was a child but my legs got much worse during the 3 weeks. Finally I remembered that if you had muscle weakness you were to stop Zocor so I did. The daily muscle weakness gradually went away but I developed severe restless leg and had to go on Requip. I also started having face spasms and “turrett” type spasms in my legs that would travel up into my arms and hands. My hands would clench and I couldn't talk plain. My head would jerk and my body would shake inwardly as if I were freezing. These symptoms were worse when I was stressed or got too hot. Eventually I had to quit my job, it was very high stress. Five years have past. I now stay home and garden and paint. I very seldom leave my home and my stress level is low but when I do get into a stressful situation I still have to deal with the “loss of control” over my body. My sleep is a nightmare every night. My restless leg syndrome is getting worse and I've had to increase my Requip and will probably have to do so again soon. My cholesterol is very high and my doctor keeps trying to get me to go on some meds for that but I would rather die than add to the painful, exhausting struggle I go through now because of what Zocor did to me.

Yes, Zocor did this to you, and thousands of other people. I am sorry to hear about what you are having to go through. You should slowly improve over the course of time.

For myself, I have come to my own personal consclusions that sales and marketing hype got way ahead of medical science, and this whole cholesterol thing is just a scam. If there were no profit in it, I doubt they would be pushing us to take these drugs to lower our cholesterol.

Besides, LDL cholesterol is vital to the human nervouse system and muscles. They never tell us that, but its true.

I hope you get better soon, statin poisoning is no fun.

Bobby

This is similar to what Lipitor did to me. I've since developed Parkinson's and am on a regiment of pills every day for that. The body needs the LDL and HDL to balance out the cholesterol. The LDL as Bobby says helps with the nervous system. The lower the levels of LDL and Parkinson's like symptoms and other neurlogical symptoms occurr.

See: http://health.usnews.com/usnews/health/articles/061219/19parkinsons.htm
and google Parkinson's and low LDL for more information.

When I mentioned this to my doctor way back in 2005, he disregarded it and told me it wasn't so. Now there are studies that have proven it.

The drug manufacturers are looking for more markets to sell their drugs to because they've run out of candidates in their initial small market. They did this by forcing the medical industry to lower the standard level of cholesterol to make their market bigger. What used to be considered low, or low-borderline, is considered high. As a result they are giving the medication to people that really don't need it and are causing other problems such as Parkinsons-like illnesses. The problem is once this damage occurrs, the problem never goes away, and the treatment is then anti-parkinsonism medication such as Sinemet, Amantadine, Resigline, Mirapex, and others.

Be very careful of the Mirapex. This has been linked to odd psychological side-effects that include compulsive activities such as hyper-sexuality, compulsive buying sprees, compulsive gambling, and other weird activities.

See this link for more information:

Since I developed Partkinsonism, I've done a lot of research into every drug that has been given to me since. I learned my lesson with the Lipitor and I plan never to let that happen to me again or anyone else if I can.
