I was on Lupron for 2 months and hated it! I was depressed and gained weight and my husband hated me for how I yelled all the time! I ended up with severe pain and went to the ER, it was my gallbladder, working at 11%. No one told me it was due to the Lupron, but I thought it might be related! Now I am finding out about others with the same problems! Maybe the Dr's should tell us this info before we take Lupron!
Hi, I am very sorry for your pain. I had surgery for endemetriosis myself back in 99 and was given the Lupron shot of 11.25mlgrms. I went into menapaus and experienced severe depression. I was given Femhrt and Zoloft to treat the depression and it took a couple of months before I really came out of the depression. I literally could not get out of bed and slowly moved to the sofa where I watched the debates during the Bush/Gore election. I found that it really helped me to follow that and I focused on that each day slowly feeling the massive cloud lift a little at a time.
It did send me into perminent early menapaus and I only had two periods far apart after the Lupron wore off. I struggled for a long time with all the effects of Menapause until finally I got better. And I did experience some hair loss but that eventually came back.
I can tell you that I suffered with horrible attacks four days after my period where I would vomit and have intense pain that would last an hour and then be left exhausted. I didn't know what it was and was told that I had cysts and that there was nothing I could do about it. Endometriosis can only be seen thru orthoscopic surgery. After eventually suffering an attack that made me feel as if I was in labor I got the procedure and thats when they saw that I had it all over my uteris and down my right side. My husband thought I was crazy and finally I was validated for my suffering.
Luckily I was given the name of Dr. Simmon of County OBGYN in Clinton Ct.
860-669-6559 and found them to be very supportive and Dr. Simmon was wonderful.
I hope you get better and know that you are not alone and you are not crazy.
Jeannie
I finished my Lupron shots in February of 2008. I had my gallbladder removed in April of 08. You are not alone. I really believe that Lupron is a poisen. It is really hard for me to get over what this drug has done to me, but through my faith, I have to believe that it was for a reason. Things are slowely getting better. Good luck and God Bless.
my daughter has tried to lupron for endom. she experienced severe hot flashes, night sweats, weight gain and mood swings. she is also an IC pt I do not believe she was aware of the gallbladder side affects. she too has stopped the lupron. now suffering from the side affect of laproscopic surgery performed today. any suggestions on how to get throught the next 24 hours
I'm sorry to hear about your daughter. I'm not sure what IC means?
My recommendations for recovery from the surgery is just to take it really easy and camp out in bed or on the couch and try to have as much help as possible. (even if she does start feeling better from the meds, she should still just rest!!) She should follow dr's recommendations for whether or not she should walk occasionally, what she should be eating, etc.
I definitely recommend taking whatever painkillers the dr prescribed as he prescribed them, because they do help tremendously. Also, I find an ice pack on the incisions is helpful too. Time will make it feel better, I think it took me about 3-4 days to start feeling like myself again. (I don't recommend car rides either, because the jiggling sensation in the car hurts too!!)
Good luck to her!
