I have been taking lisinopril/hctz for about 10 months, 4 months ago the hctz was raised to 25 mg and the lisinopril stayed at 10mg. I started developing what appeared to be food allergies. After eating certain foods (like chili, barbecue sauce and seasoned salt) i would start to itch anywhere there is tight clothing, always within 1 hour. Then within 3-4 more hours my whole body would be covered in really large hives. After overdosing on benadryl for about 24 hours the hives would subside but leave big purple skin bruises. My doctor thinks that the lisinopril is the culprit and has changed me to benicar.
