hi! It seems it was a reaction to the soap you used. Although some soaps or various products have been used by people without incident before, this sort of reaction is still possible. And yup, steroids are a good and fast cure for these reactions, including avoiding the offending product totally. Hopefully only temporarily. Short bursts of Prednisone, for around 5 days, won't cause much withdrawal symptoms. I think following the instructions for the therapy would relieve you of the symptoms and the short course won't be much of a problem. I don't think you should worry too much. Many people experience side effects. That's true. But not many people who get off the meds without incident don't usually share their experiences anymore, also. So, don't worry too much. Contact your doctor for any concerns and problems. And stay healthy!
thank you so much for your opinion. I did contact my doctor early this morning...(glad and surprised that he even picked up on a Sunday morning) and he said to stop the prednisone the hospital told me to take. He said that i wasnt on it long enough to need a "weening off" dosage. my face today is less red and i am going to the dermatologist tomorrow. I took 2 more benadryls and thats it. I dont understand the reaction from the soap. Im 36 and have been using the product Biore since im 20....thats where my confusion arose. My doctor also said that i shouldnt have any severe reactions to the prednisone since i was only on it for 5 days. Even though the hospital gave me 60mgs yesterday and this morning i took a 20mg. He still told me to discontinue it....These symptoms are probably for ppl using the prednisone for a very long time. I appreciate your time in answering and commenting on my problem....you made me feel at ease...thank you:)
Interesting. I have been on Trivora 28 for a couple of years now. Last year was diagnosed with a severe case of Bell's Palsy. A year later, my face has improved, but permanent damage is apparent. My smile never came back, and I still have trouble with my left eye. I will likely not be able to wear contact lenses ever again. It never occurred to me that the pills could be the cause of the palsy... until now.
Im sorry to hear about your face as that is terrible news. I have been off the Prednisone since the 25th of January. I stopped cold turkey...they were small doses and less than 5 days. The Prednisone wasn't the cause of the bells palsy. I was put on Prednisone after i was diagnosed with the palsy...the allergic skin reaction happened a week later. My dermatologist believes that im developing allergies and told me to discontinue the product i was using. And i did. I never heard of Trivora 28. I hope it is working for you. Stay healthy and good luck!
I know you've used Biore for years, but I also used a skin care product (lotion) for years and had a similar allergic reaction. I was lucky enough to find out that they had changed their formula to include an ingredient to which I was allergic (patch-tested).
