I went on to yasmin in november last year. Before going on to any type of birth control I consulted my doctor and later I found this site. After reading all the posts I got worried but I needed to go on to pill so I said o wat the heck let me try it. After my first day I was nauseas and I felt bloated but it went away after the first day. I have not expierienced any of the effects that are stated in any of the posts, actually yasmin is a life saver for me. I suffered from terrible cramps before and now its such a breeze. I have no cramps, just maybe slightly on day 1 but it's gone after that. My sex drive has increased and I do not have any other problems on it. I guess it affects different women differently. I feel yasmin is great for me so it depends on you and what lifestyle you have. To those who wanna try birth control, speak to your doc first and then let him decide whats best for you. I would advise women to go on yasmin coz it has helped me alot.
Glad I found this. My 16 year old has been on Yaz for 7 months and has had a headache for the last 7 weeks. We have been going through testing, neuro consult, blood work, etc. when it suddenly hit me the other day that I don't think I ever told anyone that my husband is heterozygous for Factor V Leiden. My daughter should never have been on OCP's. Will be reviewing with the doc and taking her off Yaz and having her tested for the Factor V mutation. YIKES! To think what could have happened. Hopefully it will be the answer and her headaches will stop. Unfortunately though she has had no other side effects (accept positive ones) from the YAZ. We are just hoping that now that her thyroid is regulated, she won't return to such horrible abdominal pain throughout her cycle. As to completing genetic testing before going on the pill, it really is like finding a needle in a haystack. From the research I have read, tens of thousands would have to be tested to save one life. Not that the one life is not worth it, but it is best to know your family history and your risk factors and review with your doctor before making the decision on taking YAZ or any other OCP. N.R.
