you are telling my life story! I too have always had normal lab values even as I was being wheeled into the operating room to remove a goiter only to find out that I have cancer. I think those lab values are just not clinically callibrated correctly actually I think they are one big fat joke! I have had a total thyroidectomy due to the cancer which who knows how long I walked around with, since the bloodwork was always normal. From the first time I was diagnosed at 25 with autoimmune disease, hypothyroid, with a goiter, I thought because I wasn't gaining anymore weight and in fact had lost some that the dr.'s were wrong. So for 17 years I took nothing and stayed at 130lbs. thought I was cured and weren't they dumb! However, at 42 I started noticing a weight gain of about 10lbs. within a month had my levels checked and after coming back normal I thought of everything in the book from getting older to not eating 3x's a day oh you name it I blamed it all on me. But when I put on 41lbs in 4 months I insisted on an ultrasound and thats what found it. been on synthroid for over 1 year adjusted 3 times now at 175mg. and feel worse have gained now a total of 50lbs. feel so depressed and swollen I can't even think of a good reason to live. I recommend you get something done don't just give up meds. Ihave given up on synthroid and opting for Armour it's only been 2 days but no more pitted edema so far which is a huge improvement alone looking forward to weight loss too. Please keep up with your thyroid despite bloodwork see another Dr. if you have too. Cancer is no fun!
