I've been on and off Niacin and/or Niaspan since my heart attack of 5 years ago. The flushing and "sunburn" effect is perfectly normal. I see a lot of folks here overreacting to these particular side effects. Chill out people! LOL It's just doing it's job. Seriously. It's opening blood vessels ALL OVER YOUR BODY including the little tiny ones, the capillaries, in your skin. Thus, the "flushing" . It appears that some of these folks were never actually told about the side effects by either their doctor or the pharmacist. If it REALLY panics you out at first, go ahead and take a benedryl, splash some cool water on you and wait. In about a half hour maybe less the flushing will subside. And as you take this B3 with niacin the times the flushing comes on will vary. Sometimes it never happens at all too. Please, unless you are turning green or you're passing out from it (which is EXTREMELY RARE).....there is nothing to worry about.
