Ive had mine for almost 8 months now, and for me the symtoms just keep getting worse. If your not feeling better soon I would have it removed. I know have inner ear problems and swollen glands that i dont know will go away when i have this out.
If you are already having those symptoms that is a very bad sign. The symptoms wont go away. They just get worse. do yourself a favor and get it out. Luckily you found out early unlike many of us who had it in so long that it has had long term affects and takes forever to go back to normal once it is out. Dont wait!!
I had two Mirena. The first was for the full five years (I am a slow learner and did not put two and two together). BUT the second one made me take notice. I immediately noticed the difference probably because it was so intense. Cystic acne, weight gain--despite marathon training, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, etc., etc. 3 months during isomnia that had been going on for days, I googled Mirena side effects and felt some relief. BUT having paid quite a bit of money and still unsure (scared, I was really crazy), and not quite convinced I had given it enough of an adjustment period, I waited 5 more months. After crying EVERYDAY on the way to work from month seven to eight, and having gained 25 lbs.--still marathon training, I had enough. I scheduled removal. The symptoms only got worse for me. The Nurse Practitioner told me I was wrong and it was not Mirena. BUT I FELT BETTER IMMEDIATELY. It's been two months and I have no removal regrets even after experiencing TWO crashes and PMS before my periods.
I had my Mirena put in 8 weeks after having my 3rd child. So that was the end of November. I spotted for almost 2 months with a short 3 day break about a month and a half in. Then I had my "regular period" which was 2 weeks long but very light. My period before Mirena was usually 3-5 days so its a little inconvenient to have longer periods now. I didn;t really remember that I was super crabby, until I read your post. My first period I was crabby, but I have had 2 since then ( on right now) but no more crabbyness. Another think I remembered was craving chocolate, but I thought it was because I was on a "diet". I have changed my eating habits and have lost 30 pounds in the last 4 months. I love Mirena so far. The only side affect I don't like is the longer periods, but atleast they are super light. I would give it a little more time and see how it works for you. Every woman is different and it looks like there have been a lot of disappointed women after having the Mirena put in, so I will keep a look out for anything strange, but right now, I am very pleased with Mirena.
I had my mirena put in Jan. 2009 and I am having calling the Dr. tomorrow to have it removed. I have had no bleeding what so ever, I even have missed my last period. I have, however, had immense amounts of cramping and severe back pain and blurry vision. The worst side effect however seems to be the mood swings. I have turned into monster mommy seemingly overnite. I just wish I would have researched it more. I, unfortunately, took my Dr. advice without checking it out for myself.
