Hi! I found out I have endometriosis as well, and first I got on Yaz (before I knew I had the endo) Yaz was great cleared up my horrible cystic acne (i'm 28, and have struggled with that for 13 years) but then it made me crazy and my periods were so so painful, and sex was very painful too. Anyway, long story short, I went to a new doctor that regularly treats woman with endo and she sugested I try Zovia 1/35, It's a higher level of estrogen (which is great for your sex drive) but she also told me I only needed to have a period once a year! So basically I don't take the placebo pills of the bc pack.
I have to say, Zovia has been a miracle! I feel great most of the time (occassionally I get sad, but i think it's from other things happening in life right now) I don't get any of the weird weird pain from the endo ever!!! my skin is fantastic and clear, and the best part is NO PERIODS!!!! My doctor said that when you treat endometriosis, the best way to do is to eleminate the period, because when you do have a period your body isn't calm on the inside, and thats when all the craziness happens with the tissue or implants in your body. So when everything is in a constant state of being calm, (aka~ No Period!) you are symptom free! I love the stuff and have been on it for about 4 months now. I did gain 5lbs, but have successfully lost 3 pounds so far with diet. Anyway talk to your doctor about a higher-dose BC. the low-dose pills are not good for treating endometriosis!
Oh, I am so relieved to read your experiences. I experienced the anxiety too, and that is not a recognized side effect for NR. For the last three days of the "off week" and the first day of the new ring, I was extremely anxious and had obsessive thoughts about harm coming to me or my family. My doctor told me that there could be no connection between the ring and the anxiety, and that I had to suck it up and deal with the fact that I had a mental illness. After some research, she finally believes that there is a connection between the ring and the anxiety but I'm still loaded up on drugs for the anxiety and resultant depression.
I got off Nuvaring and I'm taking Alesse now. Now I'm trying to wean myself off the meds to see if my anxiety problem has lessened, but I'm a little nervous; the side effect of withdrawal from the anxiety medication is, you guessed it, anxiety.
Anyway, thank you so much for posting.
It took approximately 1 and 1/2 cycles of being on Yaz to get the anxiety gone. I have noticed now though if I take two pills within 12 hours of each other I get really frustrated and short tempered. I have almost no period at all which is great so I don't mind having one once a month. I have to keep things low dose because I also have PCOS (love the genetics in my family!). Get off Alesse if you can... women are meant to worry about their families but over anxiety is never good.
