I am not surprised . . . most drs. don't know or don't care
about the side effects, they just continue to push drugs. In medical school, the students are taught to administer drugs . . . too bad, they should have classes on nutrition/natural products/alternatives, instead of, so many people that suffer from taking these poisons.
I too am suffereing from tinnitis and am taking Lipitor. I went to a series of doctors for the tinnitis and not one of them thought of the connection.
Is there a chance that the tinnitis will go away if I go off Lipitor?
You could try it but it didn't work for me. It was too late. The damage was already done. You also don't know the exact cause of your tinnitus. Did it happen after you started Lipitor?
My Dr. at the time upped my dose, and then when I went in w/symptoms of Tinnitus she said to me (her exact words) in response to my saying that I heard noise in both ears was, "That's impossible". Can you imagine?
Let me tell you what I am having to do now. I finally went to the House Ear Clinic here in L.A. They told me there is no cure for this condition. I am using a device daily called a Neuromonics Tinnitus treatment. It's like an IPod, but it is wired to your individual hearing . It is supposed to retrain your brain to not notice the tinnitus as much and can take 6-8 months or a year to actually work. I listen to it 2-4 hours a day. I guess there are worse thngs in life, but I am chained to my house in quiet times (can't remember what quiet was anyway) half the day, every day. Gets even better..it costs about 5,500.00 and is probably not covered by insurance. I am waiting for the Insurance Co. to rule on that. I've only been on it less than 2 weeks, so I don't see any progress yet, except for the fact it's given me some hope.
Its really sad because there are some really good physicians out there. Its just that they are few and hard to find today. Most doctor's offices today are nothing but sales outlets for the prescription drug market.
With all my side effects hearing and eyesight severe deteriotaion were amongst them. After about 6 months they had major improvement. 14 months later they are perfect, don't even use reading glasses on a sunny day and can have a conversation on the telephone again. I still suffer moderate muscle and bone pain along with micro hallucinations and micro blackouts. Hopefully you folks conditions will reverse in time. Completely inhumane criminal negligence. Best to you.
Yes its criminal. Its no longer called white collar crime. Its now called white coat crime. Maybe white lab coats should be the new prison uniforms.
