Congratulations on the removal. Mine is coming out tomorrow. Please post again to let us know how long it takes before you start feeling "normal" again. I know some things like weight gain and hair loss will take a long time to reverse, but I've heard you will feel the emotional difference quickly. Best Wishes!!
Don't beat yourself up for choosing the Mirena. I have a WONDERFUL doctor and he offered this as a second to the last alternative for me (with the copper IUD, the Paragard, being the last) as far as birth control options after a short stint with the pill didn't work (too many side effects there, too). While not everyone will have the same experience, he did not for one moment try to talk me out of removal after just 5 months and in fact told me that he'd been hearing my complaints/issues from a lot of his patients...he believed me. He even said that a year before, he was very gung-ho on the Mirena but now, not so much. I don't think that the manufacturer was straight with doctors in the beginning. Things like anxiety, headaches, dizziness.....they didn't start including those as documented side effects for a while. And even now, they consider them to be "rare".....what a load!! But now we know. I'm glad that you got it removed. I know that you will start to feel better soon once you get through the adjustment stage. Take care.
