I have been on Remicade since October, 2008 (3 infusions), and am now recovering from multiple bilateral pulmonary emboli, which began as a bad cough on New Year's Eve day. Although I went to my primary care physician on 3 occasions, nothing was found until a CT Scan was done, and then I spent 8 day doing very little in the hospital. I was on Heparin for the entire time in the hospital and am now on Coumadin for at least a year. I have seen no evidence as yet that the Remicade is helping my psoriatic arthritis, and my rheumatologist will not infuse me again until my cough is completely gone.
I would like to know why you are interested in this topic. Is this another side effect of Remicade, one not noted in any literature that I have read.
Yes I had this conditin in oct of 08-after knee replacement. I have never taken remicade--I dont know why I got this condition--I assume my doctor used a blood thinner during surgery and I have had about 8 surgeries in my lifetime and never had clots. I am on Coumadin now--
I had one PE but it was prior to taking Remicade; at the time I was transitioning from Raptiva to Enbrel. Now I am on Remicade, have only had two infusions for psoriasis (week zero and week two) was supposed to have third infusion tomorrow but am now seeing a neurologist due to finger numbness. Has anyone seen this? Or could it be simple carpal tunnel?
