Good for you taking control of your body. I took Lisinopril for 5 years and I had every symptom that you had. My doctor basically told me I was crazy too. I have been off since July 2008, and still to this day I have some of those symptoms.
I am slowly getting better though.
I too, have a lot of the same side effects, Dr also told me its not the medicine. Had bouts with irregular heart beat so they put me on bystolic to regulate that. I had a aortic valve and artery replaced in June 2005. After taking the two drugs my heart rate is a whopping 40 at rest and maybe sixty after an hour of working out. I stopped both pillsabout a week ago to see if they are causing my dizziness, shortness of breath (feels like I just can't get enough air, any exhursion about does me in) My legs feel like they are going to colaspe. The dizziness seems a little better but the shortness of breath is still prevaliant. Go to the Doctor on the 19th, my wife is a nurse so we have been keeping track of heart rate and blood pressures. Funny how doctors believe the drug reps but not the people that are actually taking the pills!!!!!!!!!! All these people have a lot of the same symptoms, but its not the drugs........... They should read this forum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am 47 years old.
You need to find a new GP since your doctor is refusing to take your complaints seriously! Ask to switch to a different class of BP medicine. Lisinopril is an ace inhibitor. Ask if you can be put on a beta blocker. Those symptoms are less likely with a beta blocker. Do not just stop the Lisinopril on your own - you need to be switched to a new medication by a doctor.
I hope this info helps you. Good luck!
I believe most of the problems are coming from that innocent little waterpill. HCTZ is a potent medicine. it removes far more than just the salt(sodium) from your body. Read what Worst Pills-Best Pills has to say about HCTZ. You won't take the pill if you do. That little waterpill isnt so harmless. I was reading on this site, about Micardis. She was having most of the same problems as lisinopril. Micardis is a combo with HCTZ. A 25mg daily dose of HCTZ is a mega dose. I've read on here that some people take two a day. Its awonder they are not dead. I really dont think the ACE is the culprit. Its that nasty little waterpill. How do you get around the problem? I wish I knew, because HCTZ in combo with an ACE does a very good job reducing high blood pressure.
